This special screening pairs FCYFF-alumnus Ethan Hickey’s feature film, Older Every Day, with Aidan Lesser’s short film, Greenfield. A moderated Q&A session with the filmmakers will follow the screening.

Synopsis
Val is in the middle of a coming-of-age crisis. Kicked out of college for a semester and forced to move back home with his single father, he faces some tough questions. What is his purpose? What should he do with this semester off?
Ethan’s Bio
Ethan was born and raised in London, Ontario. From a young age, he had a passion for story telling. He’s been writing and directing his own short films since 2014. He also participated in the inaugural Forest City Youth Film Festival (FCYFF) and continued throughout high school. Ethan attended Western University for Film, all while producing his short films BURDEN I and BURDEN II. Last year, his first feature film, BURDEN, debuted at the Forest City Film Festival and won the Audience Choice Award.
Greenfield

Synopsis
John, a young Asian-American, has been drafted into the Vietnam War. Resolute that he will die overseas, John and his younger brother argue over his fate.
Aidan’s Bio
Aidan is a 23 year old Jewish-Canadian director based in Toronto. As a filmmaker, Aidan’s previous short films are based in social realism, with seemingly mundane situations that devolve into darker stories. Greenfield depicts the stereotypical avoidance of male emotions to fulfill a specific social image. The short explores vulnerability, brotherhood and what it means to be emotional in front of other men, using a harrowing historical period of great social and political change as a backdrop.
